US President Donald Trump's younger brother, Robert Trump, has been hospitalised in New York and is "very ill," ABC News first reported on Friday.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told ABC that the president is planning to visit his brother, who she said the elder Trump has "a very good relationship" with.
The specific details surrounding the younger Trump's condition remain unknown. Robert Trump's name has come up in the news fairly frequentl ..
Robert Trump's name has come up in the news frequently this summer in relation to a lawsuit against his niece, Mary Trump, that he spearheaded on behalf of the Trump family.
The president's brother sought to stop Mary Trump from publishing a tell-all book, "Too Much and Never Enough," claiming it violated a nondisclosure agreement dating back to an inheritance dispute in the family regarding Fred Trump Sr.'s estate.
The book describes a toxic dynamic among the Trumps, which Mary Trump described as a "malignantly dysfunctional family," and paints an unflattering picture of the president as a deeply immature man detached from reality. It was published in mid-July.
In the book, Mary Trump said she was one of the most important sources for a bombshell New York Times investigation on Trump's finances.
The Times' investigation revealed that the president wasn't a self-made man but had his father bolster his failing businesses in the 1990s with injections of more than $400 million, in 2020 dollars.
In tweets last month, the president went after his niece, stating, "Mary Trump, a seldom seen niece who knows little about me, says untruthful things about my wonderful parents (who couldn't stand her!) and me, and violated her NDA. She also broke the Law by givng out my Tax Returns. She's a mess! Many books have been written about me, some good, some bad. Both happily and sadly, there will be more to come!"
