A R3 million home in Nelspruit has become the "most famous home on South African Twitter” after dozens of accounts staked their claim as its proud new owners.

But, Twitter sleuths were quick to catch on that there were far more owners than what was realistically feasible and began searching for the real buyer.

According to a screen grab of a listing on Property24, which has since been taken down, the house was supposedly selling for R3.15 million.

The ‘ideal home’ is described as offering peace and tranquillity with all the added benefits of modern estate security. The home sports 5 bedrooms, 2 en-suite bathrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 living rooms, a patio, laundry, an open plan kitchen and a double garage. At the moment the interior is "under construction" which can be designed according to the new owner's taste, according to the listing.

Despite what SA Twitter says, the family home has not been sold, says the estate agency Re/Max.

Re/Max said they were surprised to hear that the home had garnered so much attention.

According to Maurice Lodewick, Re/Max Lifestyle Estates broker, many young aspiring homeowners and businesses people are drawn to this area just outside of Nelspruit.

“Part of its appeal is that it is within proximity to Penryn private school, Kiaat private hospital and to government offices and retail shopping centres such as Riverside and The Grove. There are several vacant stands for sale in the area, however, there is a shortage of built homes which drives up demand for these sorts of properties,” said Lodewick.

Re/Max said the original post on Property24 was not even their listing, but belonged to another property agency, Omega Real Estate.
