Cape Town - Ever dreamed of quitting your job, selling your car, giving up your home and heading on a trip around the world to see all the places you've ever wanted to see?
Of course you have! And sorry to break it to you, but one young South African couple is living your dream... and catching the limelight while they're at it.
Chanel Cartell and Stevo Dirnberger, both 29, took the brave step and bid farewell to their comfortable lives living as creative professionals in Johannesburg and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime on 2nd March 2015.
"We were no longer feeling challenged, and thinking back to the last time my life hit a little wall, the ‘Yes Man’ theory had risen its shiny head again, except this time, there was two of us saying 'yes' to the world, and all it has to offer. We’re looking at a journey that allows us to live outside of the shuddering comfort zone, and gives us the opportunity to say 'yes' to a whole bunch of crazy cool experiences whilst fueling our creative needs," Chanel explains on their blog.
Staying true to their creative backgrounds, the two decided to share their travels on social media, doing something completely unique: documenting the distance they were away from home at any given destination, using a little chalk board.
Thus also the name for their blog and project: How Far From Home.
Check out these cool pics they've shared on Instagram.
13 012km // Alta // Norway As we are staying here for a month, our distance number won't change, but there is lots to show you of this incredible place. Alta lies in the county of Finnmark, at the top of Norway and has some of the most dramatic landscapes we have ever seen. Follow our story >> link to blog in profile. #HFFH_travels
8343km // Seekirchen am Wallersee // Austria For #WHPfromthewater, we're celebrating a popular method of modern travel. Whether going on a social cruise, or transporting goods across oceans, water has always enabled humans to explore further. Follow our story >> link to blog in profile. #HFFH_travels
8678km // Vienna // Austria Karlskirche is the main attraction at Karlsplatz, one of Vienna's busiest and most connected transportation hubs. We were quite surprised with the number of youths running around the square - seems to be the thing to do *drops board and jogs* Follow our story >> link to blog in profile. #HFFH_travels
