African Cup of Nations fans have taken over TikTok Africa, after a collaboration with the app at the start of the soccer tournament brought together avid football fans, allowing them to share reviews and commentary on fixtures.
The quarter-final round starts on Saturday, and since the beginning of the tournament, #AFCON2021 has garnered over 600 million views on TikTok. The tournament kicked off on January 9 and the final whistle is expected to blow on February 6.
With the assistance of TikTok's greenscreens and hashtags, fans can put their commentary skills to the test and give their take on game predictions and post game reviews.
The #FootballReviews hashtag, which allows fans to discover entertaining football reviews, has over 20 million views.
"The CAF partnership is a 12-month partnership that will host and encourage football fans to have fun with effects and challenges throughout the year," said Boniswa Sidwaba, Head of Content Programming at TikTok.
