• Although the drought in Cape Town isn't completely broken, some public pools have re-opened.
  • The City of Cape Town announced that 13 public pools across the Cape Peninsula will re-open.
  • We took the new Huawei Mate20 Pro to a few of them to test it out.

With the turn of a new season, comes the heat of the summer and what better way to escape the haze than a trip to your nearest swimming pool.

Whether you live in the North West or Eastern Cape, Limpopo or Gauteng, you can easily find a public swimming pool near you by visiting your respective province’s official website. In Cape Town, the drought has kept many pools closed for a while, but on 1 December thirteen public pools across the Cape Peninsula re-opened again for the festive season, according to the City of Cape Town.  Here are the pools that are open:

  • Atlantis
  • Bellville
  • Eastridge
  • Long Street Baths
  • Khayelitsha
  • Vulindlela
  • Kensington
  • Sea Point Pavilion
  • Mnandi
  • Blue Downs
  • Hanover Park
  • Bonteheuwel
  • Strand

We took the new Huawei Mate20 Pro to a few of these swimming pools to test out it’s features. Known for its great camera, the Mate20 Pro is equipped with a 40MP main camera, a 20MP ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera. The trio of lenses supports a wide range of focal lengths enabling the camera to mimic the results from professional cameras. See the effects of Huawei’s flagship in action below.
