Pampierstand residents took to the streets on Wednesday in protest against the Phokwane Local Municipality for a lack of service delivery. One of these services: fixing the potholes that riddle the small Northern Cape town.

Residents have since blocked the entrance to the town.

Pampierstad is not alone in its frustration with potholes – and other communities around the world have got creative in their quest for help with holes in the road.

Social media has changed the way in which residents can lodge their complaints. And if the holes aren't fixed, people have been known to employ Lego men to fix the roads – or make them into decorations.
