Discovery Bank's mobile application will see a host of improvements in the weeks ahead as it continues to sign up new users, it said this week.

The bank launched without some basic functions, such as managing credit limits – which previous holders of Discovery-branded credit cards could do when they were banking with First National Bank.

Such missing functionality is due to be added to the application in the weeks ahead, the bank told Business Insider South Africa.

Functions to be added to the Discovery Bank app include:
  • Adjusting your credit and budget limits on the credit card.
  • Adjusting notification preferences in relation to SMS and  push notifications.
  • The ability to manage debit orders.
  • The relaunch of Discovery Miles, which will for the first time be convertable to cash.

The bank, which launched in June, said the number of clients signing up has exceeded expectation. It is still queuing sign-ups, so prospective clients can not open accounts immediately.

“Our strategy has always been two-pronged, migrating existing DiscoveryCard customers as well as attracting new customers and we are tracking ahead of target on both,” Discovery Bank said.
