Dramatic video shows the moment a cruise ship nearly plowed into a canal-side cafe in Venice during bad weather on Sunday.

According to, the 13-deck cruise ship was being pulled by tug boats when it started to drift toward a cafe.

Bystander video shows the Costa Deliziosa nearly clipping the cafe, and a yacht anchored nearby, before a tugboat pulled it hard to the right.

The incident comes just weeks after another cruise ship rammed into a wharf in the canal, injuring five people.

That incident led Italy's biggest conservation group to petition late last month for the UN to add Venice to its list of endangered cities and ban cruise ships from the fragile lagoon, according to Reuters.

After the incident on Sunday, Costa Crociere, the company that owns the ship, said it had continued on its course for southern Italy, the AP reported.
