KFC has announced that it too will start selling food for delivery during Level 4 of the national lockdown.
Fast food deliveries are permitted in South Africa from Friday. Consumers are not allowed to visit fast-food outlets and restaurants to collect their own takeaways, and food deliveries will only be permitted between 09:00 and 19:00 daily.
A limited KFC menu will go on sale from Saturday, from a selected number of outlets.
"Your favourite might not be available immediately but will be back in time,” the company said in a statement.
“Delivery traditionally has been a small part of our business and as a start, we will open a limited number of restaurants,”
“We are committed to continue working with landlords, suppliers and aggregators to increase our delivery footprint and open even more restaurants in the coming weeks.”
KFC-owner Yum! Brands has not paid rent while its 48 non-franchised outlets are closed during the lockdown in South Africa. The more than other 1,100 KFC outlets, which are owned by franchisees, made their own arrangements.

KFC's food can be ordered via Uber Eats and Mr D. KFC is also in talks with government to allow it to open its drive-thrus. “(This will) enable more South Africans to access the nation’s most loved chicken, whilst respecting contactless service and social distancing”.
KFC will check the temperatures of all its staff twice a day and its restaurants will be deep cleaned “multiple times” during the day.
Almost all of South Africa's biggest fast-food outlets will do food deliveries from this week - apart from Nando's. The company says opening restaurants for delivery-only won't make any commercial sense.
“Opening for delivery only will lose Nando’s and our franchise partners more money than being closed,” Nando’s CEO Mike Cathie said.
