Black Friday falls on 29 November this year, just four weeks away, and online and bricks-and-mortar retailers are moving towards final preparations for the discount bonanza.
Several major retailers have started Black Friday newsletters, and in return for signing up you'll get sneak peeks at their discounts and access to exclusive deals. Some will even give you vouchers.

Shoprite and Checkers*
The Shoprite Group has given us hints that there’ll be massive discounts on grocery and household essentials, which are always popular.
Those looking to get ahead of the pack should sign up to Checkers' newly re-launched Xtra Savings rewards programme. A spokesperson said members will be first to receive advance notifications of Black Friday deals on offer at Checkers stores.
Xtra Savings members also stand a chance to win their Black Friday shopping for free, when swiping their cards at the till.
"One Xtra Savings member in every Checkers, Checkers Hyper and Checkers LiquorShop - that's more than 450 stores - will win their Black Friday shopping for free, up to the value of R1,000," said a spokesperson.
The retail giant said it will be sufficiently staffed and offer extended Black Friday trading hours to ensure a satisfying shopping experience for its customers. We have reached out to them for confirmation of those times.
The Shoprite Group served 125 customers per second on Black Friday in 2018. Some of the mega-deals offered in 2018 included a 50% saving on OMO washing powder and 40% off items such as Jacobs instant coffee, Weetbix and Ultramel custard.
