Sneakerheads aren’t going to be left out of the action this Black Friday, which falls on 29 November this year.

Clothes and shoes are traditionally two of the biggest crowd pleasers on Black Friday in South Africa, and most sneaker retailers, as well as individual brands, are getting in on the action this year - although several are going to make you wait until the morning of the 29th rather than trickle them out early like other industries.

Sneaker stores and individual brands are currently teasing big discounts, and if you’re willing to part with your email address, they promise to let you know ahead of time.

But if you can’t wait until the big day to get your new kicks, at least one sneaker retailer is offering discounts on a sought after pair of shoes and other merchandise every day of November - but with predictably limited stock.

Superbalist

Clothing store Superbalist is getting into the Black Friday spirit in a big way this November - and they’re not leaving sneakers out of the fold. The store is running Black Friday Spoiler days throughout November when they’ll be revealing a few good deals, as well as big discounts on the actual day.

According to Superbalist, sneakerheads can expect to find great deals on top sneaker brands such as Adidas Originals, Converse, and Puma, among others.

Adidas

Adidas is going to offer deals on their sneakers at both their online and traditional stores. According to the brand, there will be discounts on both fashion and sporting sneakers - including on some of their latest products.

If you’re willing to share your contact details and sign up for the newsletter on their Black Friday page, you’ll also get 15% off your first purchase and be informed ahead of the general public as to what deals are available.

New Balance

New Balance is running a Black Friday sub-site for their deals - all of which will be launched on the November 29. The brand is teasing deals on a variety of their sneakers - including the 997, 574, 247 and Fuelcell ranges - but warns of limited stock.

Although it’s not possible to purchase these shoes on special before the date, New Balance is encouraging shoppers to sign up and add the sneakers they like to a wish list on their website - and they say the new prices will reflect as soon as the calendar ticks over to the 29th.

Reebok

Like Adidas, Reebok is also offering a 15% discount to shoppers who sign up ahead of time.Signing up gives you access to the Reebok Community, which the brand says will get you early access and additional discounts, but they’re not letting on any more than that at this stage.

Total Sports and Sportscene

If you’re thinking of copping a pair of more practical sneakers, like actual running shoes, this Black Friday, thenTotal Sports andSportscene might be worth tracking.

These companies, both owned by the Foschini Group, are teasing Black Friday discounts on a variety of sporting apparel, including running, training, and football gear.

Unsurprisingly, they’re also using the occasion to grow their marketing database - if you want to be alerted to their deals as soon as they’re available, you’ll need to offer up your email address and phone number on the respective website signup pages - or just head to your local mall nice and early on Black Friday to see what’s on offer.

Shelflife

Shelflife is South Africa’s best store for rare and sought after sneakers, and they’re offering deep discounts on sneakers and other related merchandise every day of November, leading up to the big finale on the 29th. But with limited stock on each launch, Shelflife is encouraging fans to follow them on all social media channels, and then to act quickly.

As soon as the available discount stock is bought up, the shoe will return to normal price and the deal will disappear.

The best place to track these deals is on the Shelflife Instagram page, but you can also get notifications of the Black Friday deals if you can sign up for their newsletter on the website. If you’d prefer to do your shopping, and queuing, in-person, Shelflife is also promising in-store deals at its Cape Town and Joburg branches on Black Friday itself.

Zando

Online retailer Zando is once again aiming to go big this Black Friday, with deals on items across all of their categories. They’re also promising “massive” discounts on sneakers come November 29 - and are teasing deals on Nike and Adidas, among others.

To be the first to know of their deals, Zando is encouraging users to sign up for their newsletter, which will alert shoppers to upcoming deals. They also promise early access to users who download the Zando app.
